RC car/plane/helicopter help?

I am new to RC stuff. I want to buy a average good one, not too good, but not those cheap ones you can get in TOYS R US. I just need any information on the prices, of average ones, pro ones, with fuel, electric… Please give me some details about it, any good information. Also on the different types… I am really exited about this project.
So any info you can give, is good.
Thanks in advance:)
O, and I forgot about RC boats, any info on RC boats would be awesome:)

Well if you're serious about it then don't get anything at toys R us.
They just have crap, and you can't upgrade anything, what you get is it.
Now Hobby stores are great and if you get the right salesman/woman they recommend some good stuff, they don't try to get you to buy the best stuff because they want you to come back.
Look for other people that are buying things you maybe interested in, that's what I did.
I asked a gentleman (who didn't work there) what he thinks I should get.
I wanted an airplane for learning I had no flight experience, he suggested a PT-40 trainer, it was a good choice at the time because they didn't have Duraplane's at that time.
I would suggest you get that plane if you want to get into flying RC.
They really are nearly indestructible.
You can just duct tape the wings most of the time and get right back in the air, it's an awesome plane for learning.
I still have one just to mess around with.

RC cars are pretty much what ever you like or think you would like.
Bodies for the cars are in the thousands; don't buy one just because it has your favorite car shown on the box, which means nothing!
You can buy any body you want later.
What you do want is durability and cheap.
I've had them all just about, and for beginners I would say go with Tamiya, I think they still make the parts from the very first RC I ever bought from them "The Hornet", I beat the piss out of this car when I first got it, and it took every minute of it.
I was very satisfied with that RC., but I think they cheapened the plastic of that one a few years later.
A lot of parts for Tamiya are interchangeable too.
I have a boat but never used it; I'm just not into water sports lol
And Helicopters were to scary for me, though now they offer million dollar insurance policies for RC people.

Tower Hobbies.com have lots of RCs that are better then the ones we find in retail stores. These are better grade and some if not most can be upgraded with better engines and such.

For the helicopter, Look at the blade cx2 and cx3. As for the plane I would look at the Hobbyzone super cub.

RC Toys are a lot of fun and you will soon discover that.
If you are just starting out, I would suggest going with RC helicopters. I know the guy before me suggested airplanes but seriously, airplanes are not easy to take off and land. If you are new, the chances are that you are going to bang it on the ground and there goes your first rc toy lol.

ok, jokes apart, helicopters are way easier to take off the ground and also easier to land on the ground.

For stores, I will suggest http://www.rctoysmall.com/

RC boats are great fun and you wont seriously damage anything while going through the learning curve. You can find RC boats on sale here:
http://www.rctoysmall.com/store/boats/boats.html

It depends what is cheap for you. I can suggest, a boat around $150 will be equally balanced on both scales: budget and quality. Anything lower than this "with quality" has to be on a huge clearance sale lol.

Rock on!
