What RC helicopter has the longest flight range and the longest flight time?

I would like to buy an electric rc helicopter with the longest flight range (distance between helicopter and radio) and fight time out on the market. Any suggestions?
What brands would you recommend? Why?

My advice is that you should just buy the airship. . . @

If you are looking for a proper rc helicopter, (e.g non co-ax) there is no definitive item available to fulfill your question. As far as its concerned the longest flight range is as far as your eye can see and based on the size/scale of the helicopter, it will vary from approximately 100 metres (smaller) to 300 metres(larger). The radio gear these days have range capabilities that will far exceed your limit of vision.

The flight time is dictated by the battery capacity for electric helicopters and fuel tank capacity for fuel helicopters as well as your capacity to concentrate fully for an extended period of time when flying one of these things. Typically they range from 5 to 10 minutes.

What you may want if you are starting out is a rc helicopter with gyroscopes built in to automatically adjust the trim as you fly

Getting technical
Today's latest radios are on 2.4 ghz (bluetooth) frequency that 'lock' to each other.
The 'old' FM sets will have a longer range but be more prone to interference.

Either way, by the time the plane or heli is that far away you won't be able to tell whether its flying towards you, away from you or even upside down, and you WILL crash.

There is a very interesting video on the net about just this happening to a chap flying a B52 in England where he became 'disorientated'

As for brands (Helis) make sure you can get spares, I run a Thunder Tiger.
As for radios, see what your future teacher use's, if you get the same you can plug them together for training purposes just like a dual control car.

I recommend going with a TRex Helicopter is your looking to have a lot of fun while flying high. The TRex models can fly longer then the majority, but you need to understand that they are GAS helicopters.

This means that you're going to have to put gas in them to keep going. Gas models have advantages, and the main one is that you're going to be able to do wicked tricks.

If you're a ultra beginner and only want to fly indoors, then stick with a ESky Indoor Helicopter model.
